This chapter exposes one of the baneful fruits of ecumenism at Vatican II: the outrages against the Immaculate Mediatrix. This is why, at Pontevedra, Our Lord asked for the practice of the reparatory devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Certainly, in Russia, Bolshevism tried to destroy the people’s devotion to the Mother of God. But the blasphemies of Catholics are far more serious than these offences by apostates and godless people. With the benefit of hindsight, the message of Pontevedra seems astonishingly prophetic.

18. Neither Schism nor Heresy

Even though I cannot see it, I believe with the certainty of faith that the Church’s salvation resides today as yesterday in her Pastors. Even though temporarily sunk in error and in the sectarianism of their “Reformation,” grace nevertheless still subsists in them indefectibly, if not apparently, and is ready to spring to life, on the day appointed by God, for the salvation of all. The trouble may be very great and the danger to souls mortal but God does not wish to govern us except through the Hierarchy.

In reply to Archbishop de Moulins-Beaufort acknowledging receipt of his open letter, Brother Bruno de Jésus-Marie reminds him of the substance of our doctrinal dispute; if Father de Nantes is slandered by truncating quotations from his writings it is in order to avoid having to resolve this dispute, and for a very good reason. Consequently, our service to the Church is to remain faithful to him and to persist in demanding a doctrinal examination in due canonical form.
