Bishop Pavao Zanic of Mostar had a reputation of being an intelligent, supernatural and moderate man who had a great devotion to the Blessed Virgin. It was incumbent on him to make an investigation and to judge the veracity of the apparitions that began taking place in Medjugorje in 1981.
