Paul VI, an Anti-Pius X
In 1993, John Paul II decided to introduce the cause for the beatification of his predecessor, Paul VI, whose “ spiritual son ” he claimed to be. Fr. Georges de Nantes understood that John Paul II’s intention was “ in a way, to canonise himself, and to decanonise Pius X ”
Our apostolic mandate, letter of st. Pius X, of august 25, 1910
“Our Apostolic Mandate requires from Us that We watch over the purity of the Faith and the integrity of Catholic discipline. It requires from Us that We protect the faithful from evil and error; especially so when they are presented in dynamic language which, concealing vague notions and ambiguous expressions with emotional and high-sounding words, is likely to set ablaze the hearts of men in pursuit of ideals which, whilst attractive, are nonetheless nefarious.”
