Morning Prayer

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Let us place ourselves before God to adore Him.

Most holy and august Trinity, one God in three Persons, I believe that You are here present; I adore You with the deepest humility, and render to You, with my whole heart, the homage that is due to Your sovereign majesty.

Act of Faith. – O my God, I firmly believe that You are one God in three divine Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I believe that Your divine Son became man and died for our sins and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches because You have revealed them Who are eternal truth and wisdom, Who can neither deceive nor be deceived. Amen.

Act of Hope – O my God, relying on Your almighty power and infinite mercy and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Your grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

Act of Charity – O my God, I love You above all creatures, with my whole heart and soul, because You are all good and worthy of all my love. I love my neighbour as myself for the love of You. I forgive all who have injured me, and ask pardon of all whom I have injured. Amen.

Let us give thanks to God for all the graces He has bestowed upon us and offer ourselves to Him.

O my God, I most humbly thank You for all the favours You have bestowed upon me to the present moment. I give You thanks from the depth of my heart that You have created me after Your own image and likeness, that You have redeemed me by the Precious Blood of Your dear Son, and that You have preserved me and brought me safe to the beginning of another day. I offer to You, O Lord, my whole being, and in particular all my thoughts, words, actions and sufferings of this day. I consecrate them all to the glory of Your Name, beseeching You that through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Saviour, they may all find acceptance in Your sight. May Your divine love animate them, and may they all tend to Your greater glory.

Let us make the resolution to avoid sin and practice virtue.

Adorable Jesus! Divine model of that perfection to which we should all aspire, I will endeavour, this day, to be, like You: mild, humble, chaste, zealous, patient, charitable and resigned. I will redouble my efforts that I may not fall, this day, into any of those sins which I have heretofore committed, and which I sincerely desire to forsake.

Incline my heart to keep Your commandments. I am resolved to watch over myself with the greatest diligence, and to live soberly, justly and piously, for the time to come. I will take care of my words, that I may not offend with my tongue. I will turn away my eyes, that they may not see vanity; and I will be particularly attentive not to relapse this day into my accustomed failings, but to struggle against them with Your gracious assistance. Enlighten my mind, purify my heart, and guide my steps, that I may pass all my life in Your divine service. Amen.

Ask God to grant us the graces that we require.

O my God, You know my poverty and weakness, and that I am unable to do anything good without You; deny me not, O God, the help of Your grace; proportion it to my necessities; give me strength to avoid everything that You forbid, and to practice the good that You have commanded; and enable me to bear patiently all the trials that it may please You to send me.

PATER

Our Father, Who art in Heaven,
hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

AVE

I love thee Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

APOSTLES CREED

I believe in God the Father Almighty and Merciful,
Creator of Heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into Hell;
the third day He arose again from the dead;
He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand
of God the Father Almighty,
from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Immaculate Conception, the Holy Catholic Church,
the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

ACT OF CONTRITION

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of Hell; but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.

Let us invoke the Blessed Virgin, Saint Joseph, our Guardian Angel and our Patron Saint.

O Most Holy Virgin, Mother of God, my Mother and Patroness, I place myself under Your protection; I throw myself with confidence into the arms of Your compassion.
Be to me, O Mother of mercy, my refuge in distress, my consolation under suffering, my advocate with Your adorable Son, now and at the hour of my death. Amen.

O faithful Guardian and Father of Virgins, Blessed Joseph, to whom was confided the care of Jesus, and of Mary the Queen of Virgins, I most humbly ask you, by the love with which you bore Jesus and Mary, to obtain for me that, being preserved from every stain during my whole life, I may ever be able to serve them with unspotted purity of mind and body. Amen!

O most holy Angel, whom God, by His Divine mercy, appointed to be my faithful and charitable guardian, enlighten and protect me, direct and govern me this day. I firmly purpose to obey you henceforward, and most faithfully to serve my God. Amen.

O heavenly Patron, whose name I have the honour to bear, pray earnestly at all times to God for me; confirm me in the faith; strengthen me in virtue, defend me in the battle of life; so that I may vanquish the Enemy of my soul, and attain to glory everlasting. Amen.

PRAYER FOR THE CONVERSION OF ENGLAND

O Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our most gentle Queen and Mother, look down in mercy upon England Your Dowry and upon us all who greatly hope and trust in You. By You it was that Jesus our Saviour and our hope was given unto the world; and He has given You unto us that we might hope still more. Plead for us Your children, whom You received and accepted at the foot of the Cross, O sorrowful Mother. Intercede for our separated brethren, that with us in the one true fold they may be united to the Chief Shepherd, the Vicar of Your Son. Pray for us all, dear Mother, that by faith fruitful in good works we may all deserve to see and praise God, together with You, in our heavenly home.
