From Islamophobia to Islamology
We must read the Qur’an, « really trying to decipher its meaning », and seek to explain it with the rules of the historical and critical method that has long been in use in the study of the Bible.
When Arabia was “ happy ”
The contributions of the archaeological research of the last decade have completely renewed our knowledge of Christian Arabia, from Hadramaout to the Taurus, from the gulf of Oman to Lebanon and the Sinai. Let us summarise this knowledge before comparing it with that of our scientific exegesis of the Koran.
A Christian reading of the Qur’an
A Christian reading is first and foremost a scientific reading, that is to say, one that is preoccupied with historical truth. The Qur’an is a document of the past that must be explained by using the principles of the historical and critical method, which have long been in use in the study of the Bible. To apply oneself to doing this leads to marvellous and fascinating discoveries.
Islam, between myth and history
The “historico-critical” method reveals that the life of Mohammed and the history of the Arab conquest were invented from beginning to end in order to explain a book, the Qur’an, which preceded both of them. Jewish and Christian tradition, on the other hand, existed first and the writings, both of the Old and the New Testaments, come after the founding events, in order to put down in writing the accounts transmitted by the tradition.
To serve in the dialogue with Islam
It is urgent to destroy the pretence to religious and political supremacy based by Islam on its belief in an exclusively and specifically Arab revelation. « It is to such a belief that our world owes one of its most constant motives for inexpiable war », Father de Nantes observed. To bring this about, he proposed a rigorous translation of the Qur’an, suggesting a new hypothesis on the historical origins of Islam.
The Dawn of Islam and the Genesis of the Qur’an
We must rediscover the “true history” of 7th and 8th century Arabia in order to understand how the Qur’an and Islam made their apparition in a Christian breeding ground. Then we shall consider a few significant aspects of Arab domination in the entire Near and Middle East, which will lead us to focus on the new “heresy of the Ishmaelites.”
To understand the Qurʾān
At a time when the Holy Father is seeking to promote peace on an equal footing with Al-Azhar University “in the name of God” by forsaking Jesus, Mary and the Cross, it is worth remembering the results of the scientific reading of the Qurʾān carried out by Father de Nantes and Brother Bruno, which consists in analysing the text using the historical and critical methods that have long been employed in in the study of the Bible.
The Qurʾān - Volume I
To date, Brother Bruno has published three volumes of his study on the Qurʾān. He illustrated their respective covers with a key expression taken from the sūrahs that are analysed in the volume, superimposing the Arabic on the original Hebraic or Aramaic expression from which the author of the Qurʾān derived his Arabic expression.
